Witch-Hazel

Witch-Hazel is a shrub or small tree of North America, Japan, or China.
"Witch" is a variation on an earlier English word meaning "pliant" or bendable";
"Hazel" is analogous to English Hazel trees.

Native Americans used leaves and bark from Witch-Hazel to produce an astringent for use on scrapes, cuts, and bruises.
"Witch-Hazel" hydrosol is still available in drug stores.
