Jonathan Moeller Two versions of "The Storm" The Storm Raindrops fall to quench the earth, needed here after weeks of drought. A leaf dances in the rain. It skips and floats, caught in the wind until it flies into the atmosphere. When Zeus observed the littered leaf upon Olympus, he enacted his revenge a crash of thunder and then the singe when the bolt of lightning strikes the pecan. Inside the dense walls no one will perceive. Sorting suits dance to music preformed by clacking conveyors bringing a supply of wool sport coats for the clerk to receive. That night I come out and see a charred form. The tree lets me know I missed the storm.
The Storm The ground that was dry and cracked this morning is quenched by droplets of rain. The wind blows the leaf faster and faster until it floats then flies like a rocket to the sky. When Zeus saw the littered leaf on the mount he sent down his lightning to split an oak in half. A clash of thunder foretold its coming but the old tree cared not to move. Inside the dense walls no one will perceive. Sorting suits dance to music preformed by clacking conveyors bringing a supply of wool sport coats for the clerk to receive. That night I come out and see a charred form. The tree lets me know I missed the storm.
