Research Plan – Over the centuries literature has played an important role in allowing cultures, countries, and colonizers to share their experiences. The voice was originally a one-sided view, but as the centuries passed the voice became a voice with a distinctly different accent figuratively and literally. The colonized began to record their perceptions of the colonization and it redefined the genre of the modern post-colonial novel. I want to explore the narrative and the dialogue to prove that the world is becoming a global culture and that the days of colonizing are now changing to commerce-based colonizing. I want to answer the question of how does a native culture survive? Is the definition of culture changing? Has culture become synonymous with religion, or has free commerce become a new colonization tool? Why is war still being used to colonize, and what is its purpose? Is colonization necessary? How is literature playing a role in globalization/colonization? I will tie these concepts together in a cohesive dialogue and argument. I plan to do two posts instead of the research paper.
