Research Proposal

            I would like to do the Research Posts for my Research Option for the LITR 5731 class. I think the option of doing two posts allowing me to experiment with different areas related to colonial and postcolonial literature studies will help me to prepare for my Master’s thesis. Also, doing two smaller papers instead of a larger research project would work better for my life right now—at home with my baby it is easier for me to work in short spurts!

            For my first post, I think I will look into what research has been done connecting the contact zone theory to colonial-postcolonial literature. I am very interested in contact zone theory and I believe it could be a very fitting way to teach colonial-postcolonial literature classes (in fact, Dr White’s LITR 5731 is very much like my idea of how I would teach this class).

            My second post may build off of my first one, depending on what I find. Otherwise, I may want to research a particular region and its colonial history and colonial/postcolonial literature. I am interested in Ireland in particular, but I may also like to research Mexico or India instead.
