This is The 6th Day official web site. It has some valuable information on

cloning.

This site includes useful information on cloning and provides moral and ethical viewpoints.

This is the address to the first human cloning company. It gives information on how to get a clone.

Questions:

    1. What are the moral and ethical implications of cloning?
    2. Do you feel that human cloning will be commonplace in our future?
    3. Is the future being written (evolutionary), or do you feel that cloning

Is the alternative to death?

4. Are you ready?

Discussion:

After I asked the four questions, the following discussion followed.

Melissa Woodward: talked about genetically implanting and it caused people to die. A student asked how it was done and Melissa replied that by putting something in the eye.

Terri Brunt: asked "didn’t cloning age animals more rapidly?" but I was unable to give an accurate answer.

Glenn Hough: reminded the class that two different technologies were being talked about. One was cloning and the other one was taking one human mind and putting it into the next body (from the clip I showed).

Dr. White: asked, "wasn’t it not only physical, but didn’t it also deal with memories?" and "What does "sixth day" refer to?

Michelle: answered "the 6th day was when it was outlawed; also there was a Biblical connection."

Sonia Phillips: according to Genesis, man was created on the 6th day and the 7th day he rested

Val Harper: yes, Biblical, agreeing with Sonia.

Dr. White: there’s a bill in congress, by Pres. Bush, to ban human cloning’ Dr. White thought it was too early to do it, we’re not in a crisis. If there were a crisis, then maybe.

Glen: if it won’t happen here, it will happen somewhere else.

Val: Pandora’s Box has been opened and people will gather everything they have and go to where the cloning is.

Melanie Christiansen: she said something about it happening in another country, which lead me to discuss about my 4th source, the first human cloning company, which is illegal.

Dr. White: mentioned that in Cyberpunk Literature like "Burning Chrome"-black market of body parts when she wants to get her eyes, where do you go get those eyes? Tiger gets less impressive eyes. You have to go somewhere else, because you can’t get those here. Less effective, so you go where laws are looser.

Val: in cloning, being like someone else as far as looks go, but the personality is different.

Dr. White: Good presentation, part of today’s material.
