Trajectory of the Future:
*apocalyptic - if the aliens succeed, it is the end of the world for humans
*alternative - Mulder must fight the future so that humans can be saved

Dimension of the Future:
*present through the near future
*pre-apocalyptic - before colonization

Other relevant course objectives:
*objective 2 - is the future "written" or "being written?"  The future is written in the sense that plans for colonization are underway (they began 50 years ago at Roswell), but as to whether the plan will be succesful or not is "being written" by our actions.
objective 7 - the new human identity - a slave race, alien/human hybrids, the extinction of the human race

Explanation of the film clip:
The Well Manicured Man (played by John Neville, seated on the left) is a member of the covert organization called the Syndicate, which has been working with the alien colonizers, explains to FBI agent Fox Mulder (aka Spooky, played by David Duchovny) the secrets behind the global alien conspiracy.  This is the "TRUTH" that Mulder has sought after for his entire life.

Questions for Discussion:
*Given the abundance of evidence of alien existence, do you believe there is other life out there?
*If so, are they our friends or foes?
*Is colonization of our planet possible?
