Designated student leads class to midterm, final, or research report samples from Model Assignments and reviews outstanding or impressive passages as models for upcoming assignments.

 

This informal presentation may lead to discussion, but a specific question is not required. The main point is to identify successful answers and provide brief analysis of what works in the passages highlighted.

 

Student is required only to

find two or more passages before class meets,

use the class computer to find and highlight the passage(s), (Instructor can manage if student prefers to remain seated)

read the passage(s) over with the class, and

comment about why s/he chose the passage and either what s/he learned from it or how s/he differs from it.

 

Student presenter may lead discussion for a few minutes, but instructor will take over eventually.

 

Examples of discussion questions:

"Did you see what I saw? Did any other parts work for you?"

"What made this a good answer for you?" 

 

PowerPoints or other such presentations are unnecessary. Students are encouraged simply to navigate to the webpages in Model Assignments.
