Research Report Proposals

Allison Beck

I would like to research the work of J. California Cooper, by focusing on how she has taking the plight of the black women and turn it into a healing mechanism through her narratives. I will attempt to do this by taking a look at her some of her work and focus on how she attempt to medicated the suffering through her words.

I would like to focus my research on the "black is beautiful" movement in literature.I would also use some examples of the "color-code" in African-American novels that focus on the subject.

The Lady of Guadalupe serves as a symbol of female empowerment for Latina feminists today. I can rely on essays from such authors as Sandra Cisneros and Anna Castillo. I feel strongly that the image of the Blessed Mother is the single model of the feminine divine among Christian traditions and that we owe a tremendous debt to the Mexican people for preserving her image. Mexican-American feminists in particular are looking forward by looking back at their own brand of Marian theology. Anyway, if possible I would like to do research on this topic. By the way, some of this might end up in the proposed essay, so if that would be a problem as "already done" I would sure like to know.
