Online Texts (short essay)

Something extremely unique about this course was the use of the online texts. I loved having the ability to read the texts when I needed to without having to carry around a large book. I have the internet on my phone and was able to access the texts from there which made long car rides purposeful, because I was able to do some of my reading for the week while my husband drove. Also, it was great being able to access the texts at any point in time, and to be able to copy the text into my own word document to make notes for myself. In class, using the big screen was a great idea. I think it would be amazing if there were maybe a few more video clips to go along with some of the readings, or a chance to compare and contrast a movie with the novel. (I love doing thatJ)

The only downside that I found to using the online texts was that many students would bring their own computers to class, which is fine, but it is so hard for students including myself not to wonder around on the web.  I think that maybe next time having the students leave their desks and pull the chairs into a circle may keep discussion going a little more, and motivate others to be more involved in the class discussion.

I really appreciated all of the multicultural texts that were involved in the course and feel as though you should definitely keep them. I love learning about the different people who lived here instead of just the Columbus stories that I have always heard.  I also believe that everything was organized very well. I loved having the instructor comments throughout the literature that we were reading.
